Hey guys

Im guess I am really thinking out loud but would like to know what others think.......

I am planning a trip for feb next year for hubby, myself, hubbys brother and his wife who have never travelled overseas before and now possibly my parents who went to fiji 20 odd years ago. Mum and dad are in their late 60's, brother in law is about to turn 60 and his wife is late 50's.

We are going to santo for the first 5 nights staying at oyster island. Back in vila we will be in the 2 bedroom villa on hideaway. We will then have 4 nights somewhere which is my problem. Im thinking we may wait till we are in vila to have a look around. Was thinking of staying somewhere in or close to town (chantilys, grand casino, the melanesian) but I am now wondering if we should look at somewhere like the old Le Meridien. I want to show them the different aspects of the types of accom. We will be in town often I reckon so I think, should we stay somewhere other than directly in town.

What would you do?

How well do your Mum & Dad get around Jody??

I took my 70ish Mum there a couple of years ago & she doesnt get around too well, so I really had to consider that when choosing a place to stay.

I ended up picking Le Meridian & it was perfect for her, as the rooms are wings off the main building, so it was never to far to get to breakfast etc. (Plus, she loves the Pokies, so the Casino was very popular with her!!)

I was worried the steps from the Lobby down to the restaurant would be a bit much, but she managed fine-but you can also walk around the long way if stairs are a problem.

Hope this helps..

They get around pretty well.

I know most of the accommodations in vila fairly well, I have been there many times. As I said, I was thinking out loud. Im just not sure what type of accom to stay in for the last few nights considering the first two places are islands.

I wouldnt consider anything like poppys or seachange lodge just for the fact that you have to be a mountain goat to get up their driveways to the road. I wouldnt do that to myself!! lol

What about Trade Winds. They have lovely little self contained cabins, and a nice pool area.

Thanks. I know tradewinds, we stayed there last trip. Its pretty good.

I think we are just going to wait till we are in vila to find something for the last few nights.

Hey Jody if you do decide to stay at Le Meridien, ask for a room on the ground floor then you can waltz in and out at leisure ... plus ... report back to us on the process in place now that the resort is owned by a huge travel chain. I expect it will get a major overhaul.
