First time to Vanuatu

Hi,

We're thinking of going to Vanuatu in about April next year. We have no real idea about the place at all.

There will be just the two of us. Ideally we would like a resort located on the beach, somewhere we can kayak, snorkel etc & still only be a few minutes from town.

Is it a very expensive place to travel to ?

Also, any activities you recommend would be appreciated, water sports, adventure, sight seeing etc etc

Thanks

I "sprung" the idea of a trip to Vanuatu on my wife around ten or so days ago.

We leave in just under two weeks and have gone from knowing next to zero to having a pretty solid understanding of the basics with a few hours here on TA, Googling and of all things watching Youtube videos from other travellers.

The best advice I can give is inform yourself, be prepared but don't be paranoid.

Hi Pat, Just let us know what sort of thing you are interested in, accommodation budget/type eg self catering, resort, hotel, beach, local bungalow etc and we can help you.

For activities look at the Things To Do link at the top of this page...same for Hotels, Vacation rentals etc....

Have fun planning!

No problems, thanks.

We are after a nice resort style place with a pool and preferably located on the water.

Pretty flexible on the budget, however would prefer under $300 a night. I have no idea on prices over there so I don't really know what that will get us. Would like there to be some sort of activities, just kayaking snorkeling etc, pretty close to the hotel.

Thanks

Well Pat, not knowing your tastes, here's a couple of ideas.

For a resort style property on a beautiful lagoon with restaurants on site and lovely views look at Le Lagon.

For plenty of space and pools with an island feel in a resort atmosphere and extra pools look at Holiday Inn.

For a boutique quirky style of accommodation on the waterfront look at Paradise Cove.

For a small island surrounded by excellent snorkelling fields look at Hideaway Island.

For a boutique island style close to everything look at Erakor Island.

For a little rental cottage on the lagoon look at Pacific Lagoon Apartments.

For a little seclusion on a beachfront property look at Eratap Resort.

For outdoor adventures look at Oyster Island on Santo.

For a visit to a volcano look at Tanna Evergreen Resort on Tanna.

Hope this helps,

Jen

we have stayed at both places Mangoes the food is unreal some of the villas have private pools which is really nice plus they all have little kitchens so that you can do your own thing,Breakers is something else the resort has split between the smaller farias (rooms) and the villas that all have their own pools the last 6 in the beach front line farthest from the resort 200mts have big pools really good all guarded at night time by HENRY. again they have their own kitchens and you can buy fantastic local beef in the town plus the yacht club has great meals all is cheap.
