Family friendly accommodation with surfing

My family of four - with two boys 7 and 10 are heading to Vanuatu in April 2014.

We want to stay in a two bedroom villa/bungalow/fare in a smallish resort.

Things on our Vanuatu bucket list which I would appreciate advice on:

- resorts near a beginners surf spot which is on the beach

- with snorkelling

- family friendly

- not too large

- good food (maybe near restaurants or other resorts with great food)

- clean

- safe

- good reputation

- about $2000 for seven nights (slightly more is ok).

I feel like that is a long list, but we were fortunate enough to stay at Castaway Island in Fiji which spoilt us we now compare every beach resort to it...

If anyone could suggest resorts - we are currently looking at Paradise Cove, Aquana and Hideaway.

Many thanks for you help

There aren't really any 'beginners' surf spots on Efate as they are all over reef breaks. But if the surf is quiet they might be ok for a little paddle. I would recommend http://surfsidevanuatu.com A short bus ride to town and many restaurants. You can also just stay where you like and visit other resorts and if you buy a meal or drinks you can use their beach.

There is no real surf (but nice small beaches) at Paradise cove, Hideaway, Coco Beach or Aquana.

Aquana has a peaceful vibe and v good food, Paradise Cove is lovely and right next to Coco beach, small coral beaches (ok food) and a water taxi is available into town so you don't have to go on the bumpy road. Hideaway is a tiny island accessed by a 5 min ferry ride with great snorkelling and fish feeding, cafe style food.

Erakor Island is also good.

Have fun choosing!

Thanks for the feedback on my post - sadly Erakor is full.

I'm leaning towards Paradise Cove and Coco Beach resorts.

My husband has surfed on and off over the years so isn't truly a beginner, just out of practice ; )

If anyone has any opinions on the two resorts I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Many thanks

I believe Paradise Cove may be closed for renovations but you may want to check this out to make sure.

Have you had a look at the reviews here on TA? Nasama is also close to the surf beach in front of Breakas.

I've booked Paradise Cove and am looking at Tanna Evergreen for a couple of nights.

It feels great to have made a choice, now to organise flights,
