Port Vila Cruise Stopover

Hi. We have a one day stopover in Port Vila on our cruise in January. Have read many forums trying to get an idea of what we might fit into one day in terms of activities. We ideally are looking at visiting the Mele Cascades, finding a spot to see the turtles (swimming with the turtles seems to be out if we want to see them in their natural environment????) and possibly do some snorkelling, as well as fitting in some motorised water sports. Any advice on whether this is a realistic itinerary for a day and where the best places to do the above may be, would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Shona, you could do the day trip on the Coongoola to Moso island and see the turtle sanctuary there, snorkel, kayak etc. Other places to see turtles on the island are inhumane and to be avoided. On Moso Island you will also be able to adopt or tag and release a baby turtle. Contact them and see if they can collect you from the wharf and if the timing fits in with your hours in port.

However because this is a full day tour you will miss out on the Cascades which take 1.5-2hrs to visit if you don't stay up there too long for a swim.
