Hi

WOW a visa on arrival will be alot easier.

Thank you everyone for the information.

I head to Myanmar next week and was just heading off to the embassy in Lao PDR to get our visas.

Does this mean that we do not need to get any documents or visa before arriving in Yangoon from Bangkok??

Or is it best to get one before arriving to be safe

happy travels

Hi

i went to the embassy and they suggest that it is safer to get the visa before arriving. It ia also cheaper at $20US and $10 processing but the processing was for all 4 visas.

cheers

I don't think it's a matter of whether it's safer or not, it's just been the norm that you get your visa from an embassy outside the country beforehand for so long that people still have reservations about it.

Unless you're banned from entering the country, on their blacklist(which you'd know about) or submit your job on the visa application form that could possibly raise suspicions as to the intentions of your visit here, you're perfectly safe getting the visa on arrival. It's proved to be extremely popular, every time I come back into the country the queue at the VOA stand seems to be growing. It's quick, painless & extremely convenient..worry not!

Husband and I are setting off on our travels in mid-September - we have reservations for a 'trip' in Myanmar from Nov 15 - November 27 2010. Which is better - getting visa in UK at end of August or getting a VOA ? Are there any advantages in getting the Visa prior to travel?

Check with the UK Embassy that their visas are still good for 3 months from issue. If so, and you are arriving in Myanmar within 3 months, get the visa in advance to avoid the queues on arrival.

Agree with above, if you're planning to come many months in advance get it from the UK, it'll save a whole lot of waiting around at the airport. A VOA is really geared up for people who need it last minute, travelling or for those who don't have embassies in their country, Id always get it from your own country if it's possible.

The UK has got one of the quickest turnover times for Visas, one you send the application off you'll have it back with a few days.

I've seen 35% of the passengers are run on arrival visa and is really work at the first counter on entry point. But it takes about an hour to complete process and must be patient on arrival lounge.

No need to pay extra charges and 30 pure new dollars is needed.

New crispy notes are better.

And passport photos.
