7 days tour in Myanmar (18-24 June 2014)

Hi Guys,

I am planning to visit Myanmar for 7 days from 18 to 24 June 2014.

I will fly to Yangon on 18/06 and fly out from Mandalay on 24/06. I am planning to cover the most popular tourist destinations including Yangon, Inle Lake, Bagan and Mandalay.

My brief planned itinerary is Yangon-Inle Lake-Bagan-Mandalay. Since it is monsoon season in June, I am not quite sure how rains might affect the roads and flights. Can someone please give me some suggestions? Is this practical? More concerned about the raining season.

Day 1 Yangon

Day 2 Yangon or overnight bus to Inle Lake

Day 3 Fly to Inle Lake or Inle Lake

Day 4 Inle Lake and overnight bus to Bagan

Day 5 Bagan

Day 6 Bagan to Mandalay

Day 7 Mandalay

1. Yangon to Inle Lake, what is the best way of going there for my tight schedule? Overnight bus on day 2 or fly on day 3?

2. Is there a overnight bus from Inle Lake to Bagan?

3. What is the best way of going to Mandalay from Bagan? Not a fan of ferry/boat, so will either take bus or train.

4. How much local currency should I exchange for my 7-day trip? And where is the best place to do it?

5. Does local SIM card have internet? Doubt it..

Thanks heaps

AL

( 1 ) If you like to save your time & would like to get more time in Yangon or Inle lake, Take a flight.

( 2 ) There are night buses from Inle lake to Bagan, here is link;

tripadvisor.com/…57870548

( 3 )Myanmar train is too slow. Night bus is good option.

( 4 )Almost same rate in everywhere in Myanmar. Please don't change on the street in Yangon. Airport or Bank or Money changer

( 5 )Yes, we can use Internet with our SIM card.

Welcome to Myanmar,

Hope this will help you

Hi Kosoesoemdy,

Thanks very much for your reply. I will fly from Yangon to Inle Lake then. Is it possible to buy tickets online? Or do I have to wait till I get there?

How much local currency do I need for 7 days?

Where is the best place to get a local SIM card? Can I find information on the internet?

Thanks

It's possible to buy tickets on line.

www.airmandalay.com ( or )

www.airbagan.com

I think you need 100 to 200 $ depend on how you make sightseeing and where you eat.

At least, you need 100,000 kyats.

You can find SIM card in Yangon. There are many mobile shops in downtown.

Hi Kosoesoemdy,

Thank you for your detailed reply. I know train is very slow, but I am keen in trying it. Which part will be the best one? I am concerned about the rain.

Thanks

Better take a train from Bagan to Mandalay.

Bagan train station is situated out of Bagan and a little bit far away, about 7 km from Bagan.

Even New Bus Station is not in Nyaung U ( Former Bus Station is in Nyuang U , near Shwesigon pagoda )

It's near train station.

I understand that SIM for tourist is no longer available and certainly would not support data anyway so I suggest you check on these facts because I think you are going to have to rely on WiFi (poor) in Hotels.

Hi Kosoesoemdy,

Thanks for the information in regards to the train station in Bagan. If I decide to take the train from Bagan to Mandalay, where can I find the train information? Do I have to wait till I get there? Should be easy to take a taxi to the train station, shouldn't it?

Thanks

Hi Happymyanmar,

Thanks for the suggestion. I really want to include a train ride though. Is it possible to do it? I do not mind staying at Mandalay for one night only. Does the flight run everyday?

Cheers
