Mestia to Ushguli in November by car?

Hello everyone! I was wondering if any local expert or experienced traveller can tell me if it is possible to drive from Mestia to Ushguli at the beginning of November in a 4x4 car. Is this already too late for a self-drive? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

of course it's possible to drive by car from Mestia to Ushguli, but you mast be very good driver and have good experience of off road driving... whilst crossing you have to go through the very deep and narrow gorge of Enguri river and some times there's a danger of landslip. I advise you to hire local driver in Mestia, they know very well this road.

Did you end up renting a car? I am desperately trying to find good info about this. AND, if it's possible to drive over into Armenia.

Thank you!

Not late at all. No snow in early November, but need a car with good suspension, better 4x4, the road is rough

Post trip: I had no issues driving around Georgia, including up to Mestia, Ushguli and then over to Armenia. Was pulled over once - for going the speed LIMIT - but avoided any issues. Great drive trip!
