Using a cheap all in as a base for a trip?

Hi looking at visiting Egypt in February but wondered if using a cheap deal for an All in deal or Half Board would be a good idea as I am not at all interested in staying in a hotel complex/beaches etc all day.Want to see some of the wonderful history of Egypt and sample local food/travel around. Or is there such a thing as staying with an Egyptian family in say Luxor or even Cairo? We are a man and woman but just good friends however happy to share a room.

Xianna, you don't say where you are wanting to visit. Beachside resorts are on the Red Sea with little or no history to visit unless you count the beautiful ancient coral reefs.

If you are thinking of Luxor, Cairo, Aswan then you would get better answers by posting onto those forums. Give details of what you are planning to see and do, what time of year and your budget for the most useful answers.

This general all Egypt one is not monitored by many people.
