Land in Cairo or Luxor?

I am in the early planning stages for a trip to Egypt for Oct/Nov timeframe. We may spend 2 weeks in Egypt.

Roughly:

Cairo - 3 days

Nile cruise - 4 days

Luxor - 3 days

Air time: 2 days

My questions:

1) Does anyone have any recommendations if we should land in Cairo or Luxor?

2) Should we consider flying into one city and flying out of the other city instead of doing a round trip?

3) Are there Nile cruises that are one way? For ex. embark in Cairo and get off at Luxor so that we can fly out of Luxor instead of having to go back to Cairo to fly out.

Thanks.

Hi Ilusm,

The cruises go between Luxor and Aswan, you can get a one way cruise from either city.

We flew into Cairo, flew to Aswan, cruised to Luxor and then flew back to Cairo (a lot of people do it this way). You can fly into Luxor if you want and fly home from a different city, it is really just your choice.

It is all more or less the same. Check the ticket prices in all ways and just choose the best way. You can check domestic flight prices on line. Of course, if you have a ticket that can land you in Cairo and fly you home from Luxor or the other way, with the same price of an ordinary return ticket, it will be cheaper and easier, then it will save you one domestic flight.

Cruises are between Luxor and Aswan only as suggested above and they can be either one way (either way and lasts for 4 days) or a week long cruise that starts and ends in one place.

There is an Airport in Aswan but almost all flights to it are domestic. From Luxor to Aswan, you can either fly or take the bus or train (3 hours)
