Help with Hotels in Downtown Cairo??

Hi, stopping in cairo for two nights on way to Sharm and one night on way back - I think Id prefer to stay downtown as we want to get to the museum easily.......and also, due to the late arrival from London we dont really want to travel too far in a taxi when we land!

Ive been trawling through the list of hotels and although some sound lovely Im not sure as to where they are.........................so basically can anyone recommend a nice, clean (less than £80 a night) hote which is central?? Am I asking too much??

Cheers xl

Yes Down Town is very central, making it easier to get around Cairo.

Price I do not know much about, but you can check over the internet.

I would suggest :

Osiris Hotel (good location and has good reviews)

Hotel Longchamps (Zamalek) if you can get a room, it is popular

Nile Hilton (if it is within you budget) it is just next to the Museum)

Talisman Le Charm (has style and good location)

Hope that helps

Shepherd Hotel is less than 100 USD and isnt bad and is a short stroll from the Museum and overlooks the Nile, Nile Hilton is even closer but a little bit more expensive but still under 80 pounds if im not wrong.
