Egypt noob asks more questions...

Hi guys,

My friends and I are still doing research for our Egypt trip. We want to know whether we should go to Aswan or Luxor?

We want to be able to do/see the following:

* Felucca on the Nile (a short ride, not necessarily an overnight one)

* Visit the Valley of Kings & Temple of Karnak etc

* Abu Simbel

I wasn't sure which forum to post this in so I'm posting it here. Thanks a lot.

With your list you will need to go to both although I guess you will spend more time in Luxor.

VOK & Karnak are in Luxor, Abu Simbel is closest to Aswan, and I personally think the river is much nicer for boat rides in Aswan, because of all the little islands.

Your best bet is a 4 day cruise between Aswan & Luxor (or vice versa). From Aswan you will need to take a bus or plane to Abu Simbel.

The cruise itinerary will handle all your other stated interests.

Yes, agree - a Nile Cruise is the best way to cover these sites, and enjoy the Nile itself, but is very differnt from seeing it from the land, something I would recommend.

Can we book these tours over there or here in Australia?

Should we book in Cairo or over there in Luxor/Aswan?

Thanks

The choice is yours, but I generally like to suggest using Egyptian travel companies, you get good prices and all the local know how.

In case you did not know we have recommendation lists of private tour guides and travel companies in the forum's FAQ's (in the sticky at the top).

Regards

Wendy
