Late night flight arrivals/departures?

Hi all,

Was thinking of going to Egypt with my brother for Easter and have got a few questions.

1. Is the Concorde Hotel Dokki in a good area? Does anyone ahve any reviews on this hotel?

2. The available flights leave really late from Rome and get into Cairo at 1:30 am. The departing flight from Cairo back to Rome also leaves at 4am. Is it safe to travel this late at night? How do we do for taxis?

3. Is 3 nights and 3 days enough time to see everything? We want to see the pyramids/sphnix too.

4. what else do you recommend seeing?

Thanks for any adivce!

3 days will give you a good chance to see highlights of Cairo. Those odd flight times are pretty common and the airport/taxis etc. are fully operational to meet these flights and your hotel will make sure you can get a taxi back to the airport. For that stay I would recommend a private guide for the first day at least maybe 2 depending on your travel style and desire for challenge. Cairo is a very challenging but rewarding city. Give yourself at least one day to explore on your own. Good Luck.

We had four days and found it sufficient for the major sites, we take a leisurely pace. The pyramids and Saaqara are an easy day, skip Memphis, not much there. The Egyptian museum is almost a day. Coptic Cairo is a day, especially if you want to take in the excellent museum. The citadel can take up to a day if you want to see all the corners and eat in the nice balcony resto. The Islamic market takes about two hours to cover so it can top off a day at the museum or the citadel, it lights up at night and is very pretty.
