Egypt air vs BMI

flying late august for heathrow and the flight

BD 771 British midland

&

MS 9231 Egypt air

is a code share operated by British midland so no option there

however coming back we can either go British midland or Egyptair

the British midland is a 321 airbus and the egyptain air is a boeing 777-300

the Egyptair is about £80 ish but is it hugely better than British Midland.(space, tv, entertainment etc....)

would be interested in opinions especially if you have flown with both airlines

thanks

MS new planes are nicer and better of course, but BD isn't too bad to go out of your way to avoid. Just choose what is better for you time-wise and budget wise.

Thanks

time wise pretty much the same time

I was wondering if £80 extra was worth flying back Egyptair, (facilities, space etc) if not huge differnce then i will stick with British Midland

And a minor detail, just in case it is important.........

Egyptair is a 'dry' airline.

I find the advantages, especially leg-room and luggage outweigh that though.

that is fine we are non drinkers

thanks for your input, i can't see to find any seat plans for the 777-300 but i guess would be bigger than the 321 in any case

I am just trying to justify the £80 extra and if flight would be more comfortable than british midland.

Here is a 777-300 seating plan...albeit BA..

seatguru.com/airlines/British_Airways/Britis…

I would go with Egyptair everytime...but thats just my opinion.

A couple of comments re Egypt Air

They now do electronic check-in see www.egyptair.com/English/Pages/Default.aspx - we haven't used it yet though, so can give no verdict on it

If just checking in at the desk, they tend to open early so if you are trying to get a choice of seats don't leave it to the last moment

The following is possibly a secret, so don't let on - Check the baggage allowance in comparison to Thomas Cook et al

The other 'secret' is here http://www.egyptairplus.com/CraneJSP/

if you join (at the lowest 'Blue' level), you get another 5Kg allowance!!

But don't let on otherwise everyone will fly with them and we might not get a seat ourselves!!

I have flown with BMI, no inflight entertainment and small plane, Egyptair is a fantastic airline, stewardesses are wonderful and very hospitable. I would use EA over BMI any day
