Sound and Light show - pre-book or just turn up?

Hi

We have an evening to ourselves, staying at the Mercure in Giza. We want to see the S&L show, but is it sensible to pre-book, or could we just turn up and get tickets for the 1st showing in English? I'm guessing if we need to pre-book we can do that with the hotel? And is the pizza place still there right near the ticket office for the show?

Thanks, Mark

No need to book, for sure, and yes, the Pizza Hut is still opposite the Sphinx entrance where the Sound and Light Show is. I would rather spend my money on the pizza than the Sound and Light Show...IMO :)

Unone, I agree. That show needs serious updating , thankfully it is short;)

Thanks All. We will just turn up as suggested. We're staying at the Mercure so will walk over and then dinner at Pizza Hut. I've seen the show before and I agree, it is pretty cringe-worthy, but my other half hasn't and we have a spare evening. The other night we are doing Al-Tannoura for something less corny!

'We're staying at the Mercure so will walk over'

You might like to reconsider that. I've stayed at the Mercure but there was no way I would have walked over to the entrance.

Agree...I have stayed also at the Mercure and there is NO way you would walk to the show. That is a taxi job for sure.

“...there was no way I would have walked...”

“...there is NO way you would walk to the show.”

If only for curiosity’s sake ,why?

Like BBecket, I would be interested to know too. I've walked from La Meridien, and my understanding is the Mercure is just over the road from that.

Well, maybe I am just looking at it from a single female perspective, and walking that stretch at night. Don't like doing it in the daytime, like it less at night. But if walking is your thing, at night with the traffic in that area, for the sake of a few dollars, then for sure no issue.

Just for me, not a walk I fancy. Probably different as a couple.

I would have to agree there, I wouldn't think it would be an enjoyable experience for a single female! Mind you, a taxi ride in Cairo is sometimes anything but an enjoyable experience. For me, I like walking around the streets and seeing how the people live.
