Train Reservations from Cairo to Luxor - HELP!!!

I just called the reservations office for the Deluxe Sleeper Train and they told me that they are sold out for many of the days that we are looking for. I need to leave Cairo on Dec 23rd to arrive in Luxor on Dec 24th. They told me that they are closed for the next 2 days and to call back on Sunday but i'm worried that if i wait until Sunday (3 days from now), there will be even less availability.

Any suggestions on how i can get the train booking made? Anyone know of any local travel agents or agencies that would book this (without a big service fee or commission??).

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

Friday and Saturday is the weekend. So, neither you nor others would be able to book, which means you don't have to worry aboput availability until Sunday morning.

The sleeping trains have a separate booking service and they don't sell tickets at the reguler ticket office in the station which is open all the time.

So, try again on Sunday morning and you may want to make a tentative air booking just in case you fail to obtain tickets on the train. You will need to hurry up with that too. I had to cancel a business trip to Luxor next Monday as the flights I wanted were all fully booked.
