The scenery is dramatic and there are several sites to visit like Kalabsha and Wadi El Seboua. There is also the wonderful opportunity to arrive at the amazing Abu Simbel by water.
Kdog2012, the cruises are very different, in my opinion. Lake Nasser is vast. It is like saling on the sea in places. Nile river cruises have a feeling of having more access to people and life. You can smell wood smoke burning from the banks and see people getting on with their lives as you drift down the Nile.
I loved both experiences but if you are new to Egypt, I'd suggest a Nile cruise is a good introduction. For those wishing to reach Abu Simbel in a spectacular way, the Lake Nasser cruise is a good idea. It is good value. There are many sites to visit along the way. It feels empty with desert landscapes and underwater sites to see too.Edited: 20 September 2012, 20:43
