If you don't like tour buses , you have to hire a private car or taxi, or fly. It's several hours of driving.
Well, 40 LE for all day sounds too little even in Cairo, but Abu Simbel is a totally different story: it is a long trip in the desert, so I imagine a hired vehicle would be several hundred Egyptian pounds (in the Sinai, which I know better, a vehicle for the day starts at 400 LE). I don't like tour buses either, but there is no other budget option.
Btw, I love your profile picture -- I've almost smashed my computer's monitor!Edited: 28 May 2013, 13:09
I would agree with the others on your price, there is no way a taxi driver in Aswan would agree to that. In Luxor you might get one for all day for around 150LE. You can book transport through your hotel, travel company or taxi driver but remember the person/company that takes you has to inform the tourist police with your details before you travel.
If you look at this web site it will give you an idea of the prices and some good information
Sorry for my stupid mistake! It's 40 EGP / hr.
verity1 // Yes...I wonder if it's even possible to hire a taxi though?
SemperLiber // Thank you! I didn't even know tripadvisor uses my FB profile picture!
Khaledmh // corrected! 40EGP/hr
Phil900 // Thank you for the link!
I know of two choices
Road - Bus, Car or Taxi - BUT, there is a convoy system in operation, which resembles Wacky Races, leaving both ends at fixed times - search for 'aswan convoy times' on here might get you those from previous posts.
You do not need a guide, they stay outside anyway
Any local tour company could organise that for you.
To use the local bus yourself would need a bit luck/knowledge
you can rent a car or go to abu simbel by local transportation, then take a taxi for a small distance, it will take you 4 hours from Awan microbus station to abu simble
Thank you so much guys!! I contacted a travel agency and arranged my appointment!!!!
