Luxor Temple at Night

Really just posting this to get you to see the photos

We visited this Temple in the evening when it was cooler.

An advantage of staying in the Pavillon is that you just turn right on leaving the hotel, cross the junction and you are there.

It still had a few tour groups in. It seems that they are going to this first then on to the Karnak Light and Sound show afterwards.

I spent ages putting copyright logos on my early pics (aircraft mostly) before I realised you couldn't actually d/load them from Webshots and use them elsewhere.

Thanks for the comments.

MrsLRF has the interest in Egyptology - My job is just to follow her (and maybe the guide if we have one) around and take the pictures! - But I must confess to getting sucked in by the place and it's history.

Hi eLaReF

Great photos - I am hijacking your post to show off some of my photos too!! Luxor Temple at night is fantastic and, in my opinion, something not to be missed. You can see my photos here http://community.webshots.com/user/marlscat

I have eLaReF to thank for pointing me in the direction of Webshots!!

Nice shots

Looks like we must have tripped over each other

Webshots certainly easier than TA for pictures

AND you can edit them afterwards.

Sorry to barge in, but I was wondering if the ticket for the Luxor temple allow for re-entry on the same day.

If we go and visit the temple in the morning, can we go back to see it all lit up at night?

Great photos.

We were told it is one ticket one entry...Mr DD likes a bargain.

the attendant didn't say 'Nice try', but he was thinking it!

We are going back to luxor at end of month, and was thinking of doing a romantic evening stroll with my other half around the temple, do you still get the same hassle? as in the day time. hope not

no you dont get the same hassle, but I found it quite dangerous, very dimly lit, sensible shoes in order, I personally wouldnt have found it romantic, this is my opinion only

Stroll along just before dusk when the floodlights are on, but there is still some blue in the sky and watch it get dark as you stroll around.

Both Marlscat & I have already posted links to our photos above - they were taken about the same time, but on different days in May and show how it looks at dusk.

It is gravel etc. underfoot, but the main annoyance was small stones getting into my sandals. Take a torch for when it is pitch-black.

And if you are wandering around holding your partner's hand, it should be very romantic, (but that will be up to the pair of you!!).
