Sound & Light Show (Karnak Temple) £15 per person

East Bank (Karnak and Luxor Temples) £20 per person

West Bank 2 (VOQ, Nobles, Habu) £25 per person

Fellah Tent £30 per person

Aswan (Philae, High Dam, Obelisk) £50 per person

Quad Bike £25 per person

Cairo by train £80 per person

Cairo by air £140 per person

Aswan and Abu Simbel £140 per person

Safari Oasis £80 per person

Prices inclusive of transport, guide, entrance fees.

This link also gives entry fees to the sites if you get a taxi and visit without a guided tour:- http://www.cyclejp.com/luxor/SCHEDULE.HTML

The local ferry is 1LE per person each way, if there are a few of you it might be an idea to get a motorboat which is 5LE per crossing.

We hired a driver for a day (£6) and paid the temple fees ourselves. Driver would take us to the relevant ticket office.

As you can see it can work out much cheaper to DIY - entrance fees to Temples are below:-

East Bank

Karnak Temple £6.00

Karnak Open Air Museum £4.00

Karnak Temple Sound & Light Show £7.50

Luxor Temple £5.00

Luxor Museum £5.50

Mummification Museum £5.00

West Bank

Colossi of Memnon Free

Ramessum £5.00

Valley of the Kings - any three £8.50

Tutankhamun - £10.00

Valley of the Queens - £4.00

Temple of Hatshepsut - £4.00

Felucca Trip (from Aswan)

3 hour sunset trip (private boat) £10.00 total

2 day trip to Luxor £12.00 each

Trip to Abu Simbel, Philae Island, High Dam and Fallen Obelisk - £25.00 per person including all entrance fees (from Aswan)

We were very lucky with flights we managed to fly to Cairo for £35 per person.

Wow these prices are fab compared to the one's on the 1st Choice website!

We're staying at the Iberotel Luxor in October for a week after a weeks Nile Cruise, can anyone let me know if there's a local travel agent with these prices near the Iberotel Luxor?

Thank you in advance :)

Hi Lozzy, yes there are a few local travel companies who will offer similar prices to those based near the Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor which is only around a 5 minute walk from the Iberotel

The following map might help (travel companies are shown in red) - www.luxortraveltips.com/maps/centralluxor.htm

A 15 - 20 minute walk in the other direction you will find a few more companies

(These maps are pretty handy to print out and take with you if it's your first time to Luxor)

All will provide a similar service, it's worthwhile shopping around, comparing prices and going with the company you feel happiest with.

Quick aside .... it was interesting to see back in April that Thomson's had lifted the resort map from the luxortraveltips.com website to print off and give to visitors in their information pack - but the names of all the tour agencies clustered around the Winter Palace had all mysteriously vanished from the Thomson version.

With the Luxor economy so depressed at the moment I think the advice more than ever has to be to BOOK LOCALLY so that every penny of what you pay to visit Luxor's treasures helps feed families in Luxor.

It's heartbreaking to think of so much of the money paid by visitors being creamed off to boost the profits of European tour operators ... and we can only guess what rates they are extorting from the local, freelance, drivers and guides who ultimately deliver the transport and tours 'on the ground' whoever you book with.

Just make sure you have a decent travel insurance policy and query any specific 'hazardous' activities (such as baloon flights or quad biking) to make sure they're covered before you leave home.

If we book locally with a travel agent is payment made in cash or credit cards are accepted?

I've found cards are not widely accepted in Luxor and have always made payment in cash.
