Does Luxor have a modern shopping centre with European shops in it ?
Sorry there is absolutely nothing like that in Luxor,
I have been in various shopping malls in Cairo which have Next, River Island, Accessorize and there is the Senzo Mall in Hurghada which has a good range of shops but (and what most of us will probably see as a good thing) is there is nothing similar nor near similar as yet in Luxor.
As Suzie says, sorry, there's nothing like that at all, and remember that you have to haggle for everything that you buy, apart from in some of the fixed price shops such as Gaddis, Aboudi Bookshop and the Fairtrade shop to name just a few.
If you look down the right hand side of the page under the top questions about Luxor, you'll see lots of links written in blue. The list is alphabetical and if you scroll down to 'shopping' and click on that, you'll see several other links that you can then click onto which will give you some idea of the shopping opportunities (but there is lots and lots of tourist tat to be honest).
You also need to be very careful when buying alabaster and papyrus as there are many fakes for sale.
Further to that, if you like Starbucks or Costa Coffee type outlets, you will find those lacking also. Although there is KFC, McDonalds and Pizza Hut in Luxor
haha youv always got yorkshire bobs !!...hee-hee !
Television Street has clothes and shoe/bag shops which don't look all that dissimilar to small European shops from the outside. However, as they are aimed at local trade, I suspect that the quality might be indicated by the lower prices.
There is one (non-tourist) shopping 'mall' that I know of, it is The Lotus Mall, in Youseff Hassan Street (where also is the Emilio Hotel) and runs through to Mustafa Kamel Street. It is over three floors with mostly clothes shops, again the above warning would apply.
Just don't expect Harvey Nicks or Marks and Spencer!
