Finch Hattons

Hi all. Have any of you stayed at this lodge? We are going in 9 weeks to get married in Pinewood and we have also already booked a two day to Finch Hattons. I have stayed in several lodges before but looking at the website, it looks as though we may have to dress for dinner - can anyone confirm if this is the case? Many thanks

Hi Kelly

We went to Finch Hattons for 2 nights a couple of years ago. I would say that it probably is a dress smart for dinner place as the restaurant has the works, with cut glass goblets, chandaliers, silver service the lot. We dressed up and I wished I'd packed the family tiara.

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. The tents are great fun and at night the hippos come out the water and wander around them so set that night video up. Be prepared to be met at your tent in the evening and escorted to the main dining area. This is not an enclosed camp but actually in the open with wild animals. Your escort will carry a bow and arrow and it makes for real anticipation. In fact we did get have a close encouter with a babboon.

The atmosphere here is lovely despite it being elegant and you will have an absolutely lovely time I'm sure.

Hi Suetoo.

Wow....sounds fantastic. Have been to Tsavo before but not in this sort of style...can't wait. So glad I asked the question though as every other lodge I've ever stayed in has been khaki trousers and sweatshirts at night...wouldn't have looked good!! Thanks again.

I stayed there for 2 nights with my parents.

Long trousers and short arm shirt is good enough for dinner.

No shorts or beach wear.

By the way, the stay was great.

Make sure 1 of your game drives goes to poachers lookout.

Cheers

Hi Shelley

When we were there one of our drives took in some large springs (unfortunately I can't recall their name so ask when you're there).

These were lovely and they have an underground room where you look out to below the river and can see hippos swimming under the water. Fantastic

We spent 3 nights at Finch Hattons in February. It's the type of place where you might want to dress up a bit (about half of the guests did). I wore long pants and linen shirts to dinner and wish I'd brought some dresses, both because of the atmosphere and because it was very warm in the evenings (might be cooler at the time of year you're going though). Hope you have as wonderful of a time there as we did. The setting is beautiful.
