Beware - The Icelandic Volcano has Erupted Again

No doomsday, but the Icelandic Volcano is up again - bigger than last year. Hope it will not disrupt travel again!

<<the Icelandic Volcano is up again>>

Completely different, not the same volcano as last year, this one erupts every 5-10 years ash is different, and the airlines/airports are now prepared with much more experience. Last time was the first time since flying was invented that there was such a disruption, so there was no information available, now the authorities are communicating, and there is a fully operational network set up based on the met office in the UK

Great that lessons were leant and that its a different type of Volcano. Though nature makes us so vulnerable when it unleashes, lets hope the situation will not deteriorate.

Ash from the erupting Icelandic volcano could reach northern Scotland by Tuesday and parts of Britain, France and Spain by Thursday or Friday if the eruption continues at the same rate.

Will volcano cause a repeat of travel chaos? - MAY 24th/11

Icelandic volcano ash is affecting flights in European airspace, but authorities say it is unlikely to cause the same levels of disruption triggered by a similar eruption last year.

So what are the main differences between the two volcanic ash clouds and to what extent will travel plans be hit?

Who has been affected so far? Icelandic airspace was closed over the weekend. By early Tuesday, several hundreds flights from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland had been canceled with British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Loganair, Flybe and KLM among operators grounding jets.

I was caught up in it yesterday when my flight to Newcastle from Nice was diverted in mid-air, first to Manchester, and then to Liverpool, where we were put on coaches. We arrived at Newcastle Airport six and a half hours after landing. We were lucky compared to many, who couldn't fly at all yesterday.

UK airspace is back to normal, the clod is over Germany but is dispersing

Sorry Doff,

Didn't imagine anyone might be coming back to the UK.

Not with all the volcanic ash and all!

Hehe
