keerokok lodge to nairobi

How long and far is the above drive? We are being taken overland to Nairobi, to pick up a flight to Mombasa, assuming it is a long drive, could we pay extra for a flight instead?

It is about a 5 hour drive and some of the roads are pretty rough.

Check with your tour get , you should be able to fly.

I would give it 6 hours from the lodge, and this is up to Nairobi, add another at least an hour, better an hour and a half to get to the airport (through a bypass as going through town can be nightmarish due to traffic).

There is however an option to fly from Mara to Ukunda/Diani directly or from Mara to Ukunda via Wilson (a little more expensive) - think about this option as you are already thinking about flying into Nairobi. Keekorok has an airstrip nearby.

Alternative is of course to fly to Wilson, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Airport and fly with Kenya Airways to Mombasa, but does it make sense? Transfer in Nairobi is an extra expense, you can get into a jam. Basically by going via Nairobi as you suggest you are loosing pretty much a day, a flight from Mara to Ukunda is 2 hours and you are at the beach. Of course all is subject to your budget.

The airstrip closest to Keekorok is about 5/min drive.

Drive from Keekorok, the farthest south camp in the Mara, to NBO... figure 6/hrs some of which on some nasty roads.

Suggest you fly.
