The best company to use is Gamewatchers Safaris. I have now travelled with them several times to different parts of Kenya. On each occasion their service throughout was exceptional. They offer a selection of camps and lodges throughout Kenya but their own Porini camps are unbeatable.

We've just returned from a 9 day Kenya and Tanzania Safari. We definitely recommend Raylenne Tours & Safaris. They can put together trips in any price range according to your desired itinerary. Contact Matthew there and he is sure to help!

Hi Cass - my recommendation would depend on what you are looking to do. If you are on a budget (<$300 per person per day for safari), you will be better off working with a local operator or possibly even trying to book as much as you can direct. If you are on a low to medium budget ($300-$500 per person per day on safari) then you may want to consider a group tour operator or a set-itinerary that is recycled for private clients by a higher volume tour operator. If you are looking for a luxury safari then you can work with a North America bases safari specialist. There is a tipping point in price where the North American specialists will become just as cost effective as booking through any other method. There are a few exceptions as there are a few companies here and there that overcharge like in any industry.

Here are some good options. All these companies contract direct with the four-star and above lodges (roughly >$500 per person per day) and the consultants at these companies will have likely visited the majority (at least 80%) of the 4 and 5 star lodges in Kenya so they can put together a great trip for you. All three of these companies are competitors of my company that I have a great deal of respect for:

Next Adventures (Bay Area) - Ask for Kili McGowan, she is named after Kilimanjaro!

Alluring Africa (Orlando) - ask for Sunit Sanghrajka, he is from Kenya

Immersion Journeys (NY City) - ask for Rumit Mehta, he is also from Kenya

All three companies trade (sell) in a reasonable price bracket which is usually dictated by the lodges published rates. One of the many advantage to a US based company is you often can get bankruptcy protection on top of the expert destination knowledge and legal recourse. All three of these companies will have long standing partner companies in Kenya that provide you 24 hours on the ground support.

Jambo Casss99,

I can root for Untamed Africa Safaris (safari@untamedafricasafaris.com). I have used them many times before to organize Kenya/TZ safari for my overseas friends and have come across as very professional with competitive pricing. You can give a try/ask for their itinerary and pricing .

All the best!
