The poaching is going on regardless of tourist numbers. And Branson is given heavy protection wherever he goes, so how does that help the ordinary traveler, backpacker, etc?

If he's that confidant why doesn't Virgin resume flights again?

That's a very valid point.

Big difference having a 10/tent camp and trying to filling it with guests vs putting a big 777 or 380 into the skies with 300+ paxs, pilots/navigator, 10-12 crew, food, the petrol and other associated fees (just to fly over other countries). I can't see comparing the two.

However, his theme is spot on.

When the IRA was blowing up something somewhere anywhere in London there were no 'warnings' advising visitors not to travel to the UK.

I agree. Life must go on. Otherwise terrorism will win.

I seldom agree with the grinning pullover but this time he has it right. I don't recall any warnings about steering clear of Chicago on 4th July.

And as for the criticisms of his stance the poor lad is damned if he does and equally damned if he don't.

Virgin cannot resume flights as ABTA and ATOL rules won't permit it. and would he get any pax with the warnings in place?

4sandi, I really feel you are comparing apples and oranges there. Did the IRA warn tourists they are legitimate targets, as Al-Shabaab has done? Is the UK a failed state where the police routinely run away, and where, if you are injured, you will be heaved into a taxi and driven to a hospital that may not have the ability to save your life? Do the British rob people who have been hurt, or stand around taking videos of dying tourists with their smart phones?

Kenyans complain about their bad image, but they are mostly to blame and not the embassies. When that Russian woman was shot dead in the Old Town, Kenyans were posting the horrific photos on Twitter within minutes.
