Photos from visit to David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

I've just returned home from my amazing visit to Kenya (and Tanzania) and have started to go through my photos. i thought people might like to see some photos of the baby elephants at the orphanage so here is the link to my facebook photos...

www.facebook.com/media/set/…

I went to both the public viewing at 11am and the private evening session. At the 11am viewing there were probably 150 people and at the evening session just 20. Both sessions were fantastic.

I'll try to put up a trip report soon.

Cheers,

Mel.b

Hi I am fostering a little elephant at DSWT called Kithaka. We are going to Kenya in September and would love to do an evening visit as well as the daytime. We did go in the daytime 4 years back. Do you know what time the visiting is in the evening ? I have heard 5pm but not sure. Somebody said that you can see them put to bed. Is this correct ? Also, I will have a friend with me who is not a foster parent. Will they let her in also or is it just foster parents ?? Many thanks in anticipation of your reply. Sandy xx

Also, I wanted to see the photos you had taken but couldn't find them through the link you gave. x

Yes, it's five pm and you'll see them coming in and the keepers putting them to bed. You'll get the opportunity to touch and ask questions of the keepers. It won't be a problem for your friend to attend with you, just let them know when you want to go and your names.

Of course, once your friend sees them, an adoption will quickly follow!!

Enjoy.

Currently the visiting time for foster parents is 5pm but I'd double check as your trip gets closer just in case it does change.

I think if you have one friend with you, you'll be OK.

As for the photos the OP provided, not sure why you cannot see them as they all opened fine for me just now.
