Corner Affair Bistro & Mamma Mias Restaurants

Dear Members,

I would be in Kenya for our Safari in July 2014 and would be staying at PrideInn Hotel Raphta Suites and Boma Inn (Start & End of our trip respectively).

Wanted to visit Corner Affair Bistro, Rhapta Road & Mamma Mias, Eldoret Restaurants for 2 of our Meals when we would be staying at these 2 properties.

Can anybody advise on these restaurants? are they worth visiting?

We are also scheduled to have a lunch at Pampa Grill Restaurant as part of our package!

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,

Nishant

Corner Affair is very average. What sort of food do you like / want to eat in nairobi? Can then advise.

Our main consideration is close proximity to our Hotels - maximum 1 kilometre so that we don't need to hire a cab & can walk down; if no good restaurant is located nearby then would eat at the Hotel itself (last choice)!

And we are fine with any cuisine as long as it isn't Indian! as being an Indian myself I want to explore different cuisines when I am travelling and stay away from our local Indian flavours! :D

Even from pride inn to corner bistro, I'd personally take a taxi, or have an escort.

Take a taxi for 5 - 10 minutes ans there are awesome restaurants around.

Furusato - Japanese. Awesome.

Seven Seafod Grill at ABC place. Stunning seafood, wine list and service.

Mediterraneo - Italian with flair and pride

Amaica - African food that is fresh and modern.

Honestly, avoid the hotel.

Note that the Pampa Grill is located on the 2nd floor of the building in which the Panari Hotel (on upper floors) which is just 15/min from the JKIA airport. Nowhere near center city eateries. Unless this meal is scheduled for prior heading home, I'd skip it.

Mediterraneo (there are a few locations) is excellent. Talisman also gets great reviews. The Moonflower at Palacina Hotel also very good which is often visited by locals, hotel guests, though rarely tourists with a good diverse menu.

I would be having a lunch at Pampa Grill while enroute to Lake Nakuru from Amboseli as part of my Safari Itinerary...

and let me research more about Talisman! The Menu, Location and the distance from our 2 hotels!

Talisman from Pride Inn would take around 60-90 minutes between 4.00 - 7.30 pm, and after 7.30 pm around 30 minutes.

Thanks a lot for the information!

We would be landing in Nairobi anyway at 7:05 PM and should reach Pride Inn between 8:30-9 PM (based on the Visa Issuance Time, Immigration Checks and Traffic)

What would be the best and closest option to Pride Inn then to go for dinner with my wife and kid? we have to leave for our Safari the next day at 8 AM after having our breakfast at Pride Inn so don't want to sleep too late.

Between these 3:

Talisman, Mediterraneo (Westlands) or Seven Seafood Grill,Westlands?

I also found out a great review about The Smart Village on the Elgeyo Marakwet Road; it would be nice to explore Ethiopian food too when we are there! Maybe we can go there for Lunch on our last day from Boma Inn! and finish on a high!

Riadwarriorafrica,

Are any of these restaurants you mentioned close to the Karen area? Or any recommendations close to Karen area where I am staying?

Thank you,

Nishant, you are right to say you won't get to the hotel till around 9.00 pm. The nearest restaurant that would still be serving food would be Meditterrano. Their kitchen closes around midnight. It is in the Emirates Building next to Sarit Centre. The hotel taxi should know.

Deb in Karen you would have Talisman Restaurant, and also Tamambo at Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens. Where will you be staying in Karen?
