Nairobi Or Kisumu

I am going to travel to east Africa next October. I will go to Jinja and from there will come to Nairobi. I am scared because of warning in Nairobi and decided to go to Kisumu and take a tour to Arusha from Kisumu . Is that a good Idea? Is Kisumu safer than Nairobi?

I appreciate if anyone can help me...

Been in Kisumu for a month, totally safe, even at night in the slums; plus there is the lake. Been in Nairobi three times, people are more streetwise and moneywise, atmosphere doesn't seem that good...lots of harassers, it can be dangerous, still not like Rio, but much more expensive than anywhere in Kenya.

Kisumu has always been safe it good for less hectic resting, although if you decide to go to nairobi go chek out this mall, Highwayy mall its very near to the CBD along uhuru highway near Nyayo national stadium, u can also check them out here http://highwayymall.com/

Shopping, Food and drinks, medicine and most of the things you can think about.
