Had a pretty big occupant in our lodge bathroom once (not a tarantula) but never found any in the tents.

Just spent 2 nights in a tent in Nepal - now that is somewhere you DON'T want to be if sharing with eight-legged creatures is not your thing! Probably the worst nights of my life!!

we saw some spiders during our many safaris. Smaller and bigger ones, but we never had one in a tent or a room.

The King Baboon Spider lives in Kenya, females can grow to 8 inches and black widows are also all across equatorial africa.

But the chances of coming into contact with one are pretty slim, I don't think i've read anyone one here mentioning anything about them.
