Wildebeest Migration viewing

I am planning to visit Kenya in late July and would like to take the opportunity to see the wildebeest migration (crossing the river).

Will this be part of any of the safari drive offered by most of the camp/lodges?

thanks

If the migration is in the Mara (historically, July is when the migration starts to arrive), then yes it's likely that your game drives will at least at some point, head in the direction of where the migration herds are. This early on in the season it would be advisable to head for the Mara reserve rather than one of the conservancies if your priority is a river crossing.

I would stress that seeing the migration (and more particularly a river crossing) is by no means guaranteed, and if it is the sole focus of your safari - rather than just general game drives- it may be worth considering a private vehicle, though even then if the herds aren't in the right mood you might not catch a crossing. There is so much going on in the Mara though, that even if you don't see a river crossing you should love it!

Yes you will. The Greatest wildebeest migration usually occurs late june or in July to October every year. Florence - Lets Venture Africa
