Hi,

I'm not an expert on the hotels or safaris, but I do know the bars and restaurants outside the hotels. If you are all-inclusive it will depend on how many times you want to eat out or go for a drink.

you can eat out in a bar for 300-500 bob (£2.50-£4) a drink in another hotel will cost 150-200, in a bar in the tourist area 130-150, away from the tourist area 80-100.

Decent restauarant main course are typically 750-1300 bob (£6.50-£11). Unlless you go to the famous Tamarind where the prices are up with decent european restaurant prices

Tembo disco is free entry for ladies on Friday night (its normally only 150 anyway) and drinks are 150. Casaurina in Mtwapa is about the same.

If you go out to bars or reataurants at night use a taxi driver, so depending on where you are staying and where you are going you could be looking at up to 500 each way

pjd,

We'd covered matatus on one of hardyz other threads.

Hardyz, They are safe, its just that they don't go door to door unless your hotel and wherever you are going are on the main road, eg Bamburi Beach Hotel to Cheers bar or Tembo. Bearing in mind there are no street lights, and there are areas away from the main coast road that locals try to avoid walking late at night, its safer for a woman not to take the risk at night
