Best Choice for Reasonably priced AI ?

Hello

We are looking at the Thorn Tree safari followed by 11 days on the beach. To keep costs down we are looking at all inclusive - choices include

Travellers Club

Sun 'n' Sand

Bamburi Beach

Kinondo beach

Neptune Paradise Village

Can anyone advise which of these would be best for a stay in October. We like a reasonable choice of food /drinks and the possiblity of somewhere else to visit in the locality would be good.

Any advice appreciated!

travellers is ok right in the middle of other bars resturants night clubs, why go AI why not do half board that way you wont stay around the hotel so much but get out and explore and meet the local people and bars

beer is approx £1.20 a bottle, food about £3 so its not that expensive

Hi,

I stayed in Bamburi Beach and found it a good base. There are a couple of bar / restaurants nearby, atm about 5-10 mins walk up the road. From there you can do the Mombasa city tour (about 30-45 mins away depending on traffic) to see Moi Avenue (tusks), Fort Jesus etc, Akamba wood carving centre (excellent choice of high quality carvings at a very reasonable pice and no haggling / hassle as everything is price marked), Bombolulu crafts centre (a centre where disabled people give tours of their craft centre, they export to Oxfam etc) and Haller Park which has Hippos, giraffes, antelope, monkeys, giant tortoises and more.

There are plenty of schools and orphanages in the area to visit if you want to. PM me if you would like more details.

It is about a 2 hour drive down to the south coast if you want to do the Wasini island trip. I did this and actually quite enjoyed the drive as it takes you through villages etc that you wouldn't normally see and you get to see more of your surrounds.

Hope that helps :0)
