voyager beach resort or pinewood village?

We have gotten great prices for the above accomodation and just need to make a decision on both. We also got a quote for serena beach resort but its just too expensive.

We are staying in either resort for 6 nights then a 3 night safari and then back for 5 nights. We will be on our honeymoon and want somewhere nice. We are looking to relax and swim in the sea and maybe some snorkelling. we are going early august.

We are in our early 30's.

I will set myself up to get shot down by the South Coast fans.

I have been to both Pinewood and Voyager in the last 9 months and am back at the Voyager in 3 months tome.

we liked both hotels. Pinewood is a lot quieter than Voyager.

Whilst the beach at Pinewood is far superior to that at Voyager (and Pinewood has less beach boys) I would go for Voyager every time.

The main reason is the location. We felt cut off at Pinewood whereas at Voyager (and North Coast in general) everything is more accessible.

I have set myself up here for he South Coast lovers to come back at me.

You pays your money and takes your choice - my preference is purely based on Location-Location-Location.

I have not posted on here for a long time and having seen many recent reviews about food poisoning at Pinewood Im just added my thoughts. Lovely peaceful but isolated location, lovely staff, terrible food ate less than have ever done anywhere and too isolated to wander to anywhere else. Several people were poorly after BBQ night tho we didnt attend that meal. One month after I came back last october I went down with Guardia Llambia the specialist said most likely infected via the water used in salads, cooking etc. It creatures incubate inside you then for 3 to 6 weeks pow .... still very ill at times in all my years of travel especially asia, eating in villages and roadside stalls with no problems as my tum pretty hardy. I would now go anywhere but!!!

Pinewood! Keep an eye on the Nyali Beach chaps... new owners, lots of work being done ... hopefully to bring it back to its former glory!

Staying at the coast and being a frequnt visitor to both, i would recommend voyager for honeymooners for its location and setting. Also being located afew minutes drive to Mombasa town, it would be easier to arrange a day trip to town and back.

Sorry but I have to disagree - for honeymooners Pinewood is by far the better option....

If you want a quiet, relaxing honeymoon I would suggest Pinewood and have your own chef - Nixon is a great chef! Yes, it is much more isolated but surely if you are on honeymoon you would want peace and quiet.

=)

Have a great honeymoon!

I think the "remoteness" of Pinewood is part of its charm and it is only a 15/20 minute taxi ride to Ukunda and Diani so no reason to feel cut off. There are several very nice restaurants in the area if you feel like a change and Ali Barbours would be romantic heaven for honeymooners. I agree that a suite may be the best option, although I can't speak from experience as in all my stays there I have never opted for this. The beach is fabulous and the combination of this, the fabulous staff , gardens and colobus monkeys etc make it ideal for honeymooners. Voyager is much bigger and busier, but you will know what you like so the decision should be easy. They are both great hotels, but very different.

It's easy to label any gastric ailment as food poisoning, perhaps incorrectly, but always this label is extremely damaging to any hotel's reputation. I think it also generally affects more than a handful of people in a full hotel, as by law of averages, a lot of people will be eating the same things. Norovirus is a possible cause as pretty rampant across Europe, along with numerous other possibilities.

We're off to Kenya for our honeymoon in August and we've gone for Pinewood. It seems like for peaceful romantic setting Pinewood wins.

Our only doubt was about the quietness, but we'll be doing a safari too and a few trips, so figured the rest of the time we'll want relaxation, strolls on the beach without too much hassling from beach boys and just a quieter, more personal stay.

If it comes down to things to do you'd go for Voyager though!

When are you going?

Oh, and don't book your safari with the travel company!
