Safari Costs

Hi everyone,

We are planning to go to Kenya in Dec this year and I was wondering what kind of prices we are looking at for a 2 or 3 day safari?

Would it be better/cheaper to book when we got there or do we book through a tour operator before we go?

Thanks in advance

We are also planning a trip to Kenya next year and would like to know prices for a 4 day safari in 4x4 vehicle leaving from one of the beach hotels in Diani or Nyali.

It will probably be April or even May(not ideal)but have work commitments prior to that.

We have just agreed to pay ~ £1000 for two of us ,for a 3 night/4 day safari from Voyager Beach,Nyali in October using highly rated lodges - it was a bit cheaper than booking with our tour company AND we are getting a sole use vehicle for that price.

Suspect that it'll be more in December but probably quite a bit less in May.

well, why do you not e-mail some different local tour operators and ask about some different offers. The prices are influenced by some facts and you cannot say how much a safari is. It depends on the season, the type of accomodation (from budget to absolute luxury for an appropriate price you will find everything) number of participants and so on....

E.g. the prices for park fees (depending on the time and the park) and flights are fixed, but everything else depends on your wishes.

We are just about to book with a company that has come highly recomended on trip advisor called Glorious. We have been quoted £850.00 for 2 adults 1 child the lodges look lovely and so far service has been really quick and good. It is for 2 nights east/west tsavo, hope this helps.

Hi Charlotte,

Just returned fm a holiday at Bamburi Beach Hotel. We contacted several Safari Companies before we went and the best deal for the 3day Tsavo

East and West was with Mustafa who we found trustworthy and honest (e-mail post@safari-holiday-kenya.co.uk).

In Tsavo West we stayed at Ngulia Safari Lodge there is excellent views from the room and at the water hole viewed from the bar we saw baboons, buffaloe, herd of elephants and a leopard .At Tsavo East we stayed at Voi Safari lodge which again had fantastic views and a water hole.

Mustafa e-mailed a programme to us and arranged to meet us in our hotel

a couple of days before where we paid in sterling. £230 if we went with 4 others or £270 if it was just the 2 of us in the 6 seater. Our driver/guide was Joseph he was patent, knowledgeable, a good communicator and above all a good safe driver. The extra we paid for just the two of us was well worth it as the safari means long days in the vehicle. The above cost was inclusive of everything except alcohol at the bar or with meals.

Have a good trip and get lucky with the game viewing.

We have been quoted £750 for 2 for 2 nights Tsavo east and west staying in good accommodation.

A recent visitor told me not to bother with Tsavo West as the animals have been moved to East to avoid poachers from across the border. Not sure how true that is.Not crossing in to another park could save you $120 on the trip.

Our own car and driver which gives us the flexibility to move on when we want to and not because someone else is getting bored or vice versa.

Not cheap but should be memorable !
