Returned from Kenya on 13th July and did a one day safari to Tsavo East, as we have done a 3 nighter before. Would not recommend it as by the time you get there along the 'Highway to Hell' - the Mombassa to Nairobi road it is usually late in the morning and the animals can be asleep. It takes approx 3 hours to get there as the roads are atrocious and 3 hours to get back. The cost was approx £60 per person and included lunch.

Would recommend at least a 1 night stay. Voi Lodge is a very good place to stop over and has a watering hole for night views. My son and girlfriend did a 2 night and they saw a lion, giraffes, elephants, lots of different birds, antelope, apes and many more types of animals. At Voi they saw a bobcat eating meat that was put out, but the leopard did not appear that night.

Because of the bad weather, Masa Mara and Amboseli were closed for some of the time we were there. Apparently they have had the worst rain for years and it was dangerous for the safari vehicles, not to mention if you got stuck overnight.
