Mid August to mid September high tourist season & airfares?

Planning trip to Beijing & home from HKG from SanFrancisco during above time. Airfares seem very high looking now. Is it better to wait closer to date? Not sure how busy flights are during that time. Any advice would be helpful. Can fly on UNited, American or ANA. Thanks!

Transpac flights in both directions tend to go up around mid-June and then drop around Sept 1. So if your initial outbound falls within that period, then yes, you'll have a higher airfare than if you shifted the entire trip outside that range. This usually applies to all classes of service. But it is still a bit early, so you might want to hold off until May and see if fares budge a bit. You might also consider an initial flight down to LAX, as fares out of SFO always seem to be considerably higher than LAX.

Thanks very much for your info. Presently flying out of LAX to Beijing more expensive....but am taking your advice and keeping watch til sometime maybe in May....unless a good price comes up. Thanks again!
