Online check in for domestic flights

We have 3 domestic flights and one Shanghai-Korea. All of different companies: Hainan; China Eastern; Air China and Asiana. Will we be able to check in online 24hrs prior to flight like we do here?

Any tips how to do this?

Thank you,

P

I've never managed to check in online with Air China or China Eastern, but it's never been a problem. Just check in at the desk old school style.

Most have English language websites for you to try to check in. Last time I tried Air China, the online check in wasn't working.

Do you know if they overbook the flights like it often happens here?

Thank you,

Hi, no problems with Asiana and Hainan.

Hainan- from 1400hrs for flights departing on the following day.

Check electronic ticket, exception ticket numbering 800-, 826-, or 895-, and not code sharing, I.e.flight with prefix "*".

Not for holders of foreign passports. They have to check in at the airport. Chinese ID holder can check in online.

Not true. You can check-in online with Air China up to 3 days in advance depending upon itinerary. Very simple website, in English: http://www.airchina.com.cn/en/index.shtml

Personally, I have never been able to check-in online with China Eastern or Hainan Airlines. Never used Asiana.

The only reason for checking in online is to pick your seat, really. However, all airlines will block access to certain seats.

Qupnicely, Reason for online checkin could be to get the boarding pass to save time at the airport. Seat selection is possible with various airlines.

Did you try the online checkin with Air China?

I travel on Asiana often, online check-in is no problem, seats always pre-assigned.

Done it many times from different cities. I assume the OP will have luggage to check so they'll have to go to the desk anyway. No point printing off a boarding pass if this is the case. If travelling with just carry-on you can save a few minutes by having printed the boarding pass. Some options for an e-pass via mobile phone too but I've never tried that. Seat selection is the main point.
