has anyone used luxury escapes as l saw a great holiday on it but worry about buying this sort of thing on line ,,,any advise lynda coomba
Hi, we have used Luxury Escapes to initially go to Lakes Enterance in Victoria. We then went to Khao Lak in Thailand for a week. It all worked well, we got what they said we would, accommodation, transfers, extras were all great. We are about to go to Lombok for a week in late May and have just booked quick trip to China in October. We have never had any trouble with them. They deal with tour groups or resorts, who will contact you via email after initial booking. The prices are very competitive.
I'd like to know too. Thinking of a China trip too. When I rang them they said the group was limited to 16 people. I have heard people say they have had similar reassurances from other companies, but when they arrived the group was 130! A nightmare getting everyone around. Offer only lasts 7 days, so am a bit scared. Love to know what you have heard.
How did your trip go?
We have used them twice everything was as they said it would be ... excellent will use them again in fact we have booked our third one a hotel in Brussels as part of our trip to Europe so far very good peter bishop Nz
I am interest in the 16 days Everest Base Camp package . Would appreciate any reviews?
Thank you.
Booked a trip to China with them. Unbeknown to me, the trip was subcontracted to another company, who went bust a couple of weeks before departure. Luxury Escapes refunded the money I had given them promptly, but I was still over $800 out of pocket for visas, extra flights etc, so read the fine print and make sure your insurance covers insolvency.
Luxury Escapes ONLY subcontracts to other providers, they don't run their own tours. And you have no control over who that provider might be. For instance, they had booked a number of people on Sinorama, which folded in quite spectacular and public fashion about 3 months ago, leaving people with no trips. At least from what we hear, people who booked with L.E. did get their funds returned. That is probably who #6 is talking about.
Bottom line: if you want control over your trip, you need to either do some or most of the critical bookings independently and get local area guides in each location. Alternatively, use a reputable China-based provider that is good with small group and private custom trips. When you use a western marketing company that's a pass-through entity, you can come out with expectations met or you can have a negative experience.
Edited: 5 years agoHi wondering how your China trip went. We have also used LE a few times and never been disappointed and now looking at booking Captivating China deal for 2019
I had exactly the same experience and was out of pocket for $300 paid directly to Sinorama and also the cost of the visas. Luxury Escapes refused to compensate. The lesson is you don't know who you'll end up dealing with when you book with Luxury Escapes.
They subcontract out and in our case the company, Sinorama went into liquidation and we lost $300 plus the cost of our visas. Luxury Escapes refused compensation.
