Definitely not. With kids, you need at least 4 to 5 days. Beijing requires a lot of walking and the kids might not be able to cope with all the walking.

Don't go to China during the 1st week of May because it's holiday.

The walk on the wall is going to take you the best part of a day as you may prefer to do this with a tour company rather than try and do it on your own and most of the trips are for the day. This only leaves you two days and beijing has loads on offer. The forbidden city is a good 2-3 hours and if you combine it with a walk around tianeman square and the summer palace which has lake trips which might appeal to the children then thats another day gone. Justin is right 4 - 5 days is a much more reasonable time for such an amazing city.

good luck

I think that you need to add one more day. Everything in Beijing involves a lot of walking so you need to plan some breaks.

For the Great Wall as there are four of you then hiring a car and driver makes most sense.

Up to 5 days so you can take your time with the children.

If you can afford it why not hire an English speaking driver it is really worth it.

Make sure you buy many packets of paper tissues as many places do not supply paper napkins and toilet paper.

Try and use Hotel toilets if you can and shopping malls. But some of the attractions may have western toilets or traditional squat toilets. So plenty of packets of paper tissues.

Buy BOTTLED WATER do not drink tap water. especially the children. BOIL BOIL BOIL BOIL

Have a card with the name and address of the hotel written in Chinese characters for each person and keep it on you all the time.

Even make sure the children have one each as well!! You never know.Like a badge or even on a band or string around their wrist or neck.
