Rice Terraces

Planning a trip to Beijing and X'ian in 2015 and I am wondering if there would be any rice terraces that could be visited for a day trip from either of these cities. Thank you.

Both of the two cities are located in North China, where the local farmers grow the wheat instead of rice.Actually, there is no rice there at all! Go to South China to see the rice terrace.Chengdu,Chongqing or Guilin are the easiest connection from Xi'an.

Yunnan also has rice terraces (Yuanyang 元阳) but they are far from Beijing and Xi'an. Save the rice terraces for your second China trip.

You're out of luck. Rice is grown in the south where the weather is more appropriate.

2015 is far from now,if you really love rice terrace, why not build that into your upcoming trip to China. You can either fly from Sydney to Chongqing,or from Melbourne to Chengdu ,both of which are located in south China. It is easy to organise a trip to see the terrace there.
