Not available. "Street food" of any kind is highly restricted now in many areas of Beijing and Shanghai. And Indian food is not particularly popular amongst the general Chinese population, so you'll have to go to an Indian restaurant for that.

In China you'll find Chinese street food, not Indian. But no lack of Indian food. Check India's embassy website in China for recommendations.

Hi, Iaowai,

There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in Chennai. But they are not authentic and menus based on noodles only.

Noodles are supreme as food art form, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Italian. Each with wide ranges of variations, I've traveled the world and never passed up an inviting bowl or plate of noodles. What a joy! Enjoy.

@ partha66: I was 100% sure that there are plenty Chinese restaurants in Chennai - but you were talking about "street food" and I tried to imagine how many street vendors there are offering Chinese food. So same here with Indian food: Plenty of Indian restaurants but no street vendors selling Indian food.

As mentioned you wont find Indian street food in Beijing or Shanghai. Heaps of Indian restaurants tho.

Some restaurants do a bit of a fusion of Indian / Thai food etc

Near the workers Stadium in Beijing is Khajuraho ( I think thats how its spelled) or Ganges. They both do traditional Indian food. http://www.ganges-restaurant.com/en/

I really love street food. If you come across Jian Bing try them ! Its also a bit of entertainment to see how they are made. - theworldofchinese.com/2012/…

Thanks to all,

Glad to know there are Indian restaurants.

If boiled rice is available, we can manage.
