Staying at Royal Pacific Hotel /Towers. Is it possible to take the star ferry over to the Jumbo for
dinner - safe to walk to Star Ferry and return in the evening ? Are there night markets outside the
Jumbo or within safe walking? Thx

Jumbo is on the south side of HK Island. The Star Ferry pier is on the north side of the island. Better if you take the MTR, gets you a lot closer to Jumbo.
It's safe pretty much everywhere in HK.
Star Ferry is just a commuter ferry service, and runs some harbour cruises. Won't take you to Jumbo. Seek transportation to Aberdeen.
You can take the MTR to Wong Chuk Hang Station. That's closest to the pier where they run the free connection ride from the pier to the floating Jumbo restaurant. (Still need to walk about 0.5km or so I think). Or you can also take a taxi there.
Oh, the Star Ferry to Jumbo must be the one that leaves from Kowloon Station, right next to the clock tower! ;-)

You been drinking too much last night? Seems to have become a standard reply :-)
Ha! Too much or just enough? ;-) (Also: If it's good once, it's great, twice!)
Really, I was just so impressed by the dialogue about the clock tower earlier this week.....it seems to have stuck with me.
These travel agents are not totally wrong. There was a time when the Clock Tower was AT Kowloon Railway Station. Albeit only... 40 years ago? :)
The Star Ferry Pier (Central) had been moved again and again. Although Star Ferry Pier on Kowloon remains unchanged over the decades. Miracle.
Even Jumbo has been moving back and forth.
Edited: 6 years agoJumbo might not be worth the trip. You take a very short, motorized boat ride to the floating restaurant. The ride and the scenery are interesting for maybe 5 minutes, no more. Food is actually ok though.
A nice tour of the area and the harbour:
MTR Wong Chuk Hang; walk to Sam Wat pier, ferry to Jumbo, walk around the restaurant a bit (10 mins or so indeed), then take the other ferry for a much longer ride through the crowded harbour to Aberdeen (end near the fish market), sampan ferry to Ap Lei Chau, walk along the waterfront (both ways - little Hung Shing temple one way, ship building exhibition the other way, and most of all the views of all the fishing boats on the water), then finish at Lei Tung MTR.
Or the same in opposite direction, of course.
Lots of little eateries around Ap Lei Chau Main Street.
Aberdeen also has an old Tin Hau temple, originally built at the waterfront, now way inland... as so many such temples!
