Lantau and Lamma island

Hi,

Is it possible to do Lantau Island (Big Buddha) and Lamma Island in one day?

I also want to go to Ocean Park. Can I combine any of the above with Ocean Park?

The New World ferry inter-island service sail between Mui Wo (Lantau) - Peng Chau - Cheung Chau only.

May be you can do Lantau + Cheung Chau?

Ocean Park is quite big, with lots of walking + waiting in line, I prefer to do it in one whole day,

Regarding Ocean Park, its located on the south of HK Island (Aberdeen - 3.5hours from Po Lin), and is a daytime thing like Lantau (open from 9 or 10am to 6 or 6:30pm). As such, they don't fit well together on a same day itinerary.

Lamma, however, is primarily a place to enjoy a seafood dinner, which is a great supplement to Lantau! See below:

Po Lin monastery takes quite awhile to get to, and requires two steps (either MTR to Tung Chung --> Ngong Ping 360 cable car [>90min], or ferry from Central to Mui Wo --> bus to Po Lin [2 hrs]). With that said, if you leave early in the morning, you can certainly visit Po Lin, have a vegetarian lunch with the monks, tour through the monastery and be ready to leave by the early afternoon.

You should allow 3-3.5 hrs for The Lantau-->Central-->Lamma transit, but if you left by 2pm, you'd have enough time for a late afternoon/early evening stroll, followed by dinner.

If you're not pressed for time, consider spending the day on Lantau at a more relaxed pace, say until 4 or 5. It's beautiful, slower paced, and covered in interesting hikes & beaches. You can still make it to Lamma in time for a seafood dinner (the primary draw to the island) around 8pm or so.

Also, consider Cheung Chau, as the food is identical and much cheaper than Lamma.
