Macao Scheduling & Airport Connections

I'm arriving in HKG for the first ever on 12/5 for several nights. I've been doing some light research about Macao to undertand that an absolute mininum of a nght and a full day besides gambling--unless that's your only call to Macao.

At what point during, say 5 days does it make sense, esp. with regard to HKIA the customs issues, etc. Doesn't this make the customs, etc. potentaily more complicated?

OTOH, a midweek Macao trip disrupts the HK hotel stay. One poster here recommend this strategy, butleaving extra bags with your hotel until you'e back.

Thoughts? Thanks!

You can consider going to Macau right after you land in Hong Kong, straight from the airport, by way of Turbojet ferry service.

If you have a good rate for a 5 day stain HKG you might choose to take a day trip to Macau. Ferries run 24 hr a day. Otherwise, whichever end of your trip is NOT a weekend you might save a bit of money by spending your first or last night in Macau.

It would be best to go to Macau on a weekday as Senado Square is crowded on weekends and hotels are expensive Fridays and Saturdays.

My suggestion would be to have the last night of your stay in Macau - you can get good hotel deals at macau.com . Then, depending on what time your flight leaves HKIA, you might be able to get a direct ferry there from Macau instead of travelling back through HK.

There are no special issues of customs or immigration unless you plan to be carrying loads of cigarettes or alcohol.
