Disneyland is nearer to Kowloon than to HK Island, but this doesn't mean Kowloon is more convenient than HK Island when going to Disneyland.

When getting to Disneyland, it is faster and more convienent from MTR Hong Kong Station on HK Island than from MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station on Kowloon, this is beacause the trains from Hong Kong Station has fewer intermediate stops. However, the difference is not too significant, and the further away from Central district on Hong Kong Island, a few more minutes is needed.

Just stay somewhere near public transportations, the convienience of getting to Disneyland should not be an important factor of choosing where to stay.

Yes Tin is right. In choosing a hotel determine how far it is from the MTR or Nathan road. Transportation in HK is very efficient whether by bus or train and reasonable too. Di ka mainip you're already there. I think it's the Big Buddha which is farther, as it would take you an hour in the bus to get there excluding the MTR.
