Urgently Needs Advice on Octopus Card or otherwise

We are going to HK for 4 nights. (2 persons)

Plan to: take the airport Express (roundtrip)

Plan to: visit the Grand Buddha at Lantau and Nong Ping.

Plan to: take MTR to Citygate Outlet to shop

Plan to: take MTR to the Central

Plan to : Stay around Mongkok Yau Ma Tei area

There are a choice of : Airport Express Travel Pass HK$300

or Octopus Card HK$150. Please please advise us.

Please advise which hotel should we stay: Metropark Kowloon or Cityview Hotel. We cannot make up our mind because read so many reviews on both hotel but we want free internet access.

You can skip the pass and just get a regular ("on-loan") octopus card, which is usually a better value unless you plan to ride the MTR a lot.

Take advantage of the group promotion discount for airport express (2 persons to Kowloon costs $140 one way).

Airport buses are a more economical way to reach the city. For example, route A21 takes you to Nathan Road in Kowloon, and costs $33 per person. You can use the octopus card to pay for the bus ride.

Thank you for your advice. I went into the site to look at the group promotion rate for Airport Express. Single journey for group of 2 costs HK$140 from Kowloon to the airport. What about from the airport to Kowloon? Is a another ticket we have to purchase? Do they sell the tickets online?

Just pick up the group ticket PLUS an on-loan Octopus Card for you each from the Airport Express MTR service counter. You can't miss the counter upon leaving Immigration and Customs. There isn't a different group offer from the Airport to Kowloon, as the group special ticket offer is available for the journey from Airport to Kowloon or the other way round (as the offer is only available for a one-way journey, you'll need to purchase the group ticket offer again, if you take the Airport Express MTR from Kowloon Station back to the Airport).

Take note that you can only purchase the Octopus Card with HKD cash, rather than with credit cards.

Good luck with your planning and have a GREAT time in HK! :)
