Not sure what an "oster" is - do you mean OCTOPUS Card? Absolutely essential if you plan to use public transport more than once or twice. Buses do not give change in HK and have really weird fares like $13.90 so you quickly get sick of fumbling for change (and queuing for MTR tokens). So unless you plan to take taxis everywhere invest in an Octopus each - $150 with the unused balance refundable minus a $7 service fee.

Get the "on-loan" Octopus which costs HK$150 including HK$50 deposit. You can use it on MTR trains, buses, trams, Peak Tram, green minibuses, outlying islands ferries and most other ferries but not ferries to Macau as well as for purchases at many convenience stores, cafes, restaurants and other retail outlets. You can use it for Airport Express but for more than one person travelling together it is more economical to buy Airport Express Group Tickets.

The Octopus is absolutely worthwhile. You get a discount when traveling on the MTR as well. The on-loan one works out for most people.

The major difference between an Octopus and the London Oyster is there is no daily cap when using Octopus.

And if you have money left on your card you can get it back when you leave HK. The London card is the Oyster. Oyster, Octopus, get it?
