Help with one word clues

My sister has no clue she's going to Hong Kong and each Friday leading up to departure date, I'm giving her clues.

So far I've given her: lights, water, dance.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that aren't really obvious?

I'm trying to lead her off track and get her to think Vegas or some other destination.

24/7 - Hong Kong is one of the only cities in the world that is active all day and all night.

Also, Hong Kong people do two things more than anything else: Eat/Food and Shopping.

Perhaps

7's (we are famous for Rugby sevens competition)

jockey (HK Jockey Club - national sport here is horse racing)

orchid (symbol on our flag)

'97 - (the year of our hand-over to China)

Rabbit - 2011 is 'year of the rabbit' on Chinese Zodiac

moon - (HK famous for moon cakes)

egg - (HK famous for daan tat - "egg tarts")

Victoria - Our famous harbor but many other places share this name so it won't be too obvious

Maybe some of these will be useful.

@Vanessa_S1977, well you mention Vegas; - casinos near by (as Macau with casinos having higher reveneus than Vegas's) is just 1 hour ferry away from HK).

A world class airport on an island.

tea---our stocking tea.

@Vanessa_S1977,

longevity - on the day of your departure- 9 September : "9/9" - 99- in Cantonese, this auspicious number stands for longevity, and HK people are very into auspicious number of "9", "8", "3"- we buy(or rather bid)for our car registration plates to have auspicious numbers.

Now, all could be wondering why going to a place has longevity, tea, casinos, egg tart, moon cakes- well, we in HK, have longevity so we can eat.shop 24/7 .

Another one :

eight arms(but it is not one word) that you can hold in your palm--our popular Octopus card, as the OCtopus has eight sucker-bearing arms.

The flower on the flag is not the orchid but the Bauhinia - now that is not a flower name known to many outside HK ;-)

Zhuhai,

Wow, thats pretty cool.. I didn't know that.

From Wikipedia for those interested.

Bauhinia blakeana is an orchid tree of the genus Bauhinia with large thick leaves and striking purplish red flowers. The fragrant, orchid-like flowers are usually 10 to 15 centimetres (3.9 to 5.9 in) across

It originated in Hong Kong in 1880 and apparently all of the cultivated trees derive from one cultivated at the Hong Kong Botanic Gardens and widely planted in Hong Kong starting in 1914. It is sometimes called the Hong Kong orchid (香港蘭/香港兰)

Thanks for sharing, Zhuhai. That was a good learning for today.
