quickest route to lantau

we are staying in at the Harbour Grand Kowloon soon and would like to take the cable car to Lantau Island can anyone tell us the best route I see someone suggested the MTR is that the quickest way we are only there for a few days so want to pack in as much as possible and going in the cable car and walking up to see the Buddha are some of the things we would like to experience but we dont want to spend all day there.

You mean the cable car to the Big Buddha on Lantau Island. Yes you can take MTR to Tung Chung, that's where the cable car terminal is located.

Depends on which day you are going there probably will be long queues at the cable car terminus for tickets and boarding. As much as you don't want to spend the whole day there it's very likely that you would.

If the cable car queue is longer, you can pay more to use the crystal bottom cars and shorten queuing time.

Quickest way - Taxi, followed by MTR. Personally, I still recommend the MTR, much cheaper and not that much more time.

Hi just checked our mtr map. Just go to Kowloon mtr station, find the orange line and get on for Tung Chung. Once there you come out of the mtr and will see the cable car or even follow the crowd.

Try to be there for 12 30ish and you will see the free Shaolin display. is free and good

Enjoy your trip

I have a question about this as well. If you aren't going to take the cable car but want to go directly to the Giant Buddha, where would your MTR stop be, coming from Kowloon? Thanks, and sorry for interrupting this conversation!

Same stop as for the cable car, Tung Chung which is the terminus station of the Tung Chung Line. From Tung Chung either take bus 23 to Ngong Ping (where the Buddha is located), which takes about 45/50 mins;

or take a blue taxi from outside exit D of Tung Chung Station, fare is about HK$160/170 and journey is about 25 mins.
