As far as I know, there is no station wagon vehicle used as taxi. I think that 3 passengers with 3 large suitcases will work okay. Be sure you wait for a taxi rated for 5 passengers. They are bigger. 3 suitcases should fit in the trunk - may leave the trunk door unlocked, tied with bungie cords. Or else put 1 suitcase in the front bench seat and all 3 of you sit in the back row should work.

Would be worth reading the following... An oldie but still very relevant.

The taxi drivers use the bungie cable so they can fit oversized luggage in the boots, by doing a tie down to secure everything. This is a rather common practice here but I suppose does depend on how huge your luggage is, keeping in mind the sedan size of our taxis.

You might also try putting two luggage in the trunk, and one in the front passenger seat. The three of you sit at the back. Still ok !

A couple of tips for you

Buy bottled water never drink tap water.

buy several packets of paper tissues from street vendors as many places do not provide toilet paper or paper napkins.

use credit cards and bank cards in china at ATM's you get a better rate in China.

Take a small amount of rmb say 750 to start and then change in china.

Have a card written in Chinese characters with the names and addresses of the hotels . have one for each person in your group. Keep it on you all the time.

Take a photocopy of your passports and keep them in your suitcase. just in case you lose yours. Have the phone number of your country's embassy.

Keep a list of the numbers of your credit cards etc. just in case

let your bank know your departure date and your return home dates.

Use shopping mall and hotel toilets where you can and try and avoid SQUAT toilets.

If bags not so huge, its ok no problem to use 1 taxi for 3 people and 3 bag.

I suppose all depends on the taxi driver as well. his attitude and his frame of mind at the time.

Hong Kong taxi drivers are very goal (money) oriented. I can't see them refusing business. They will work with you. More bags = more money (HKD $5 each). Most likely in the trunk, try to tie down with bungie cords. If they put one in the front seat, HKD $5 will also be charged.

#4: Why are you posting this list of your "tips" on China on a thread about Hong Kong, for which much of it doesn't apply?

While we're at it, why are you posting this list of tips over and over and over and over on just about every post you visit on this forum?

Thank you for your polite email.

I post it for different people as not everyone reads every post.

It is for helping others who may not have travelled and coming from different parts of the world.

We do not all have the pleasure of living in China.

I am only trying to help but KVCHINA based on your complaint I will cease from today.
